1. American Red Cross 2006 Local Heroes Award Chief Sherrill informs us that Officer Gregg B. Sculthorpe has been selected by the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts as a local Hero, an award that recognizes those in our community who have shown courage, kindness, and unselfish character. Chief Sherrill nominated Officer Sculthorpe due to his ability to help others who have suffered a tragic loss to rebuild their lives, in the wake of his own heart-breaking personal experience. Congratulations to Officer Sculthorpe.

2. HPD Collaboration with Leominster District Court Attached is a letter of agreement between Leominster District Court Probation Department, Judge John J. Curran Jr., and the Holden Police Department to provide services at Wachusett Regional High School. Probation Officer Diane Massouh has been assigned to work together with Officer Dave Armstrong on a weekly basis at the School beginning in September. This effort will help to support communication between the School Administration, Police Department, District Court, and students. The Probation Department oversees students aged 17 and over who may be on probation or otherwise involved with the court system.

3. Recreation Department Update Enclosed is an email from Denise Morano, Recreation Director concerning the closing of the pool season, which occurred on August 24th. The third and final session of pool classes had 481 participants; twenty-five out of forty classes sold out.
During the months of July and August, the Recreation Department showed three walk-in movies at the Senior Center Lawn as its Friday Night at the Movies series. All participants enjoyed fair weather, popcorn and other snacks. Thanks and congratulations to Denise and her crew for another successful summer.

4. Commissioners to Qualify Public Officers Kathleen Peterson, Town Clerk, informs us that staff members in the Town Clerks Office have received gubernatorial appointments as Commissioners to Qualify Public Officers. The Commissioners administer oaths of office to appointed public officials such as notary public, justice of the peace or state office. Congratulations to Kathy Peterson and her staff.

5. Year-End Expenditure and Revenue Reports Helen Graf, Town Accountant provides the enclosed expenditure and revenue reports for the period ending June 2006, the end of Fiscal Year 2006.
