3.      Mason Park Bridge
During the heavy rain storms in March, the Mason park Bridge was washed away.
A newly constructed, railed, arched-wooden bridge, which spans Trout Brook, now connects park-users to the Mason Road recreation area. After three days of fabrication, construction on the new bridge began Monday, August 23 and took four days for the town DPW’s Building and Ground’s division to complete. The new bridge replaces the original wooden one, which was flooded and destroyed by the heavy March rains.
The bridge’s arched design not only eliminates potential future damage from heavy rain storms and flooding, but also brings a sense of character to these Jefferson woods. The bridge allows access for the town’s emergency departments, as well.
Pictures of the bridge are attached.

4.      Solar Panels at Senior Center
The solar panels at the Senior Center have been installed. There are 48 panels which will provide approximately 13% (10,500 KWH) of the needs of the Senior Center.   It will result in the lowering of the annual electric bill by $1,800 and will reduce the CO2 emissions by 5.3 tons/year – the equivalent over a 25 year period of planting 720 trees.  The panels which cost $84,000 were funded 50% by the HMLD and 50% a state/federal grant.
The Light Department will be installing similar panels at the Holden Street site this month.
