Volunteering at the Gale Free Library
There are many volunteer opportunities at the library.  Volunteers are essential for keeping the Gale one of the busiest and most active libraries in the Commonwealth. We use volunteers of all ages from teens to seniors throughout the various library departments as well as at the book sales sponsored by The Friends of the Library.

Regularly Scheduled Library Volunteers
If you have a couple of hours per week that you could share with us, please fill out an application and return it to the Reference Desk.  We use volunteers for shelving books, checking shelves, putting away videos and magazines and many other tasks.  There are often positions in the Children’s Room, Circulation and in Local History.  The minimum age for a scheduled volunteer is 14 years.

We are fortunate to have many people apply to be volunteers at the library, so we do not always have openings.  But we do retain all applications on file for a year in the event that something opens up.  Please print an application by clicking here, or ask for one at the Reference Desk the next time you come to the library.  We look forward to having you help us serve the community in Holden.

Friends of the Library Volunteers
The Friends often need volunteers to work on book sales, newsletters, memberships and publicity.  They have a lot of fun while helping the library in many different ways. If any of these opportunities interest you, we'd love to have you join us.  Please contact the Friends by clicking here.
