The Town of Holden recognizes the need to develop a single, comprehensive "master" plan to guide the future development of our community. Currently our development patterns are being guided by zoning and other regulatory and policy dictates that in some cases were established over 30 years ago. Clearly, the Town is in need of a comprehensive review of those dictates to insure their continued relevancy. Most importantly, the Town needs to establish a process for that review that allows to the maximum extend possible the citizens of the community to
determine their own development preferences and outcomes. It is the goal of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to undertake and facilitate such a process.
The Steering Committee shall consist of seven (7) members representing the following:
* Board of Selectmen
* Finance Committee
*Planning Board
*4 Public At-Large Members
In addition, there will be nine Element Teams coordinated by the Steering Committee responsible for the following areas:
*Community Vision and Goals
*Public Services and Facilities
*Economic Development
*Housing
*Natural, Cultural and HIstoric Resources
*Open Space and Recreation
*Transportation
*Land Use
*Implementation
The Senior Planner will serve as ex-officio member without a vote. The Committee shall organize and select a Chair and such other officers as it sees fit. The Committee may adopt such rules as it deems necessary and consistent with the orderly conduct of its business.
