Douglas Fox resigned from the Conservation Commission in August, 2002 after seven years of dedicated service to the Commission, the Department of Growth Management would like to thank him for his service to the community. Matthew Kennedy was appointed Chair of the Commission in August, 2002.
In 2002 the Commission held public hearings for twenty-three Notice of Intents, with one Extension of Time; four Requests for Determinations of Applicability 19s and Released 17 Orders of Conditions for completed projects.
The Conservation By law adopted at the May Town Meeting has been extremely successful in regulating projects and reducing environmental degradation. In addition to conducting public hearings for various projects and monitoring permitted projects, the Commission is pursuing the creation of a Town Forest Stewardship plan.
