Q. What are the requirements to obtain a marriage license?
A. Both parties must appear at the Town Clerk’s Office, 1196 Main Street (white building), to file a “Notice of Intention to Marry” and there is a $30 filing fee. After filing for the intention, there is a 3-day waiting period before the license can be issued to you.
Q. What are the requirements for licensing a dog?
A. A valid rabies certificate and appropriate fee which is listed below:
January 1 - March 31 discount price $10.
(includes a dog licensed before six months of age or within 30 days of acquisition if the dog is older)
April 1 - May 31 regular price $20
June 1 - December 31 late fee $30
Q. Where/How do I register to vote?
A. Residents can go to the Town Clerk’s Office to complete a voter registration form in person. Mail-in forms may be requested by calling the State Elections Division at (800) 462-VOTE or the Town Clerk’s Office at (508) 210-5530.
Q. Where do I pay a parking ticket?
A. The fine(s) listed on the ticket is payable at the Town Clerk's Office. Parking tickets may be appealed by filing a Parking Ticket Appeal form with the Town Clerk.
Q. How do I obtain a copy of birth, death, or marriage certificate?
A. The Holden Town Clerk issues certified copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates if:
- the birth occurred in Holden or if the parents resided in Holden at the time of the birth
- if the death occurred in Holden or for Holden residents who passed away in any other Massachusetts city or town
- if you applied for the marriage intention in Holden.
- To request a copy, please visit the Town Clerk’s Office, send a written request or order online.
Q. Do you have a Notary?
A. The Holden Town Clerk’s Office provides Notary services to the public at no cost.

A. The Holden Town Clerk’s Office administers the oath to qualify. Please call (508) 210-5530 to make an appointment.
Q. Where do I get a Business Certificate?
A. Business Certificates are filed at the Town Clerk's Office by any person, persons or corporations conducting business in the Town of Holden under a company name, pursuant to Chapter 110 of the Massachusetts General Laws. A Business Certificate may be filed in person or by mail. There is a $40 filing fee.
